      finished diy light

These lovely DIY solar jars were a quick and easy project. I have wanted to do try my hand at making them for EVER. Now that I am finally in a house with a yard, I n! I was delighted with how they turned out – the deck is so bright and adorable on these warm summer nights we’ve had lately…

Here are your basic supplies. You will need the following
? Cheap solar lights (hello Target!)
? Cheap jars with glass lids (hello dollar store!)
? Frosted glass spray. (This is optional, but it makes the light diffuse and the jars appear to give off more light)
      ? Plastic gloves.
? Paper, or something to protect working surfaces

      diy solar jars

Pull the jars apart and spray the inside of the bases (not the lids!) with the frosted glass. This took SEVERAL coats. I did probably 10-12 coats.

Take the solar lights apart and glue the solar part to the lid of the jar.

Reassemble the jars and enjoy the summery glow!

? DIY fire pit: How to

Goodies are already lined up for next week. Til then, Have a great long weekend.

This DIY fire pit was such a fun project, of course, my husband did the heavy lifting! July long weekend is coming up! It’s time for celebrations, long warm nights, s’mores, and of course firelight. Whether you have one out mping in the woods, on the beach, or in your backyard, it is a great way to extend the party into the night.

While at the hardware store just recently, my husband turned to me with a sly twinkle in his eye and asked if I’d like a firepit. Well, of course I was all for it. We did a little research, and by that evening it was dug, gravelled and built. What seemed like a major undertaking was a surprisingly simple project.

      Here’s how we did it.

Step 1: Measure out a circle, then cut and peel away the grass.

Step 2: Lay down gravel and layer your Bricks. Done!

When Mr.C had finished the construction, we went straight out for firewood. Unfortunately, prairie weather struck. In the 10 minutes it took us to go out and come back, the beautiful sunny day darkend and turned into a spectacular thunder storm.

I’ll have to post again to show you the pit in it’s full glory.

This font has it all. Charm, whimsy, elegance, and class. The designer,?Pedro Arilla, created it as a tribute to his grandmother and is giving it away for free. What makes this typeface so extraordinary is the imaginative array of alternative glyphs and ligatures that are included.

      Gorgeous.

There hasn’t been a Beautiful Branding post in a while, so here goes!

      Swan Hotel
This identity leaves me speechless. So obvious, so simple, so elegant. The visual identity was created for a hotel in Essex by Gareth Procter Studio. I just love the refined curve of the ‘s’ and the neutrals that were used throughout.

      General fe
*Sigh. Muted tones. Warm, inviting, comforting. The identity that was designed for the General fe by Clarke Harris is so cozy that just looking at it makes me want to do nothing but snuggle up with a book and some tea for the rest of the day.
